Phil Wettengel

Associate Director

Phil Wettengel is an associate director in O’Neill and Associates’ state government relations practice. In this capacity, Phil assists the state government relations team with client management, monitors hearings and legislation on behalf of clients, and provides administrative support. Phil also files lobbying disclosures and monitors procurement opportunities for clients.

Phil is an alumnus of O’Neill and Associates’ internship program, where he assisted the government relations division with developing policy communications and advising clients on local and state legislative practices.

Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Phil gained experience as an intern with the American Beverage Association in Washington, DC. In this role, he built relationships with lawmakers and lobbyists, attended Congressional hearings on behalf of ABA, assisted the VP of Governmental Affairs on various initiatives, conducted research on the “Soda Tax”, and prepared memos for senior ABA staff.

Phil also interned as a campaign processing assistant for United Way of Central Massachusetts in Worcester, MA, where he processed a $5.7 million fundraising campaign, researched donor giving history, maintained a database of campaign pledges and gifts, and audited and reconciled corporate campaign pledges and gifts.

Phil graduated from Plymouth State University with a bachelor of science in public management. While he was an undergraduate, he served as Treasurer and President of the Plymouth State Snowboard Club and was a recipient of the Jason Tuscano Scholarship Award.
